Queensland Closing to NSW and Mask Wearing to Continue for Another Week

The Queensland Government provided the below update this morning. Current restrictions in place for South East Queensland will ease as of 6am, tomorrow (Friday) morning.

However, mask wearing will continue for another 7 days until at least 6am, Friday 30 July.

Queensland also announced that its border is closing to all of New South Wales as of 1am, tomorrow (Friday) morning.

Further details are provided below.

Imminent NSW border closure

New South Wales will be a declared hotspot from 1am, Friday 23 July 2021. Previously the hotspot declaration only applied to the locked down areas of New South Wales but due to concern of spread it will now apply to the whole state.

The border is also currently closed to the states of Victoria and South Australia.

Only Queensland residents are able to return from these hotspot states, but anyone wishing to do so will be made to quarantine for 14 days upon arrival.

A New South Wales border zone will come into effect from tomorrow at 1am. Residents living within this zone will be allowed to move between NSW and Queensland for essential reasons, including for work.

Anyone in this circumstance must have the relevant border pass prior to travel and must be careful not to enter any areas outside of the border zone.

Face masks

Masks will remain mandatory until 6am, Friday 30 July across the 11x LGAs of Brisbane, Gold Coast, Noosa, Sunshine Coast, Ipswich, Logan, Redlands, Moreton, Scenic Rim, Lockyer Valley and Somerset.

Masks are required whenever you leave home including on public transport, in taxis and rideshare, in shopping centres and supermarkets, hospitals and aged care facilities, restaurants and cafes, churches and indoor workplaces (where social distancing isn’t possible).

To keep our people safe, Hutchies prefers everyone wears masks in our offices in South East Queensland when safe to do so.

If you are inside on a construction site and cannot socially distance, you need to wear a mask, if it is safe to do so. The construction industry in Queensland has remained open due to successful adoption of COVIDSafe practices and wearing a mask wherever possible is an essential part of this.

Face masks will also now need to be worn whilst seated in stadiums.

The face mask wearing rule also applies to you if you have been in South East Queensland in the last 14 days and are now elsewhere.

Eased restrictions for SE QLD

The 11x LGAs of South East Queensland will move to the same level of restrictions as the rest of Queensland from 6am, Friday 23 July:

All indoor settings: one person per 2 square metres, or 100% capacity with ticketed and allocated seating. Dancing is allowed provided the area only has 1 person per 2 square metres and crowding is controlled.

Stadiums: Stadiums hosting large events will move to 75% capacity. Masks will need to be worn while seated in South East Queensland.

Private gatherings: limited to a maximum of 100 people indoors. No limit on outdoor public spaces

Indoor wedding ceremonies and funerals: 1 person per 2 square metres or 200 people or 100 per cent capacity with ticketed and allocated seating (whichever is greater). Dancing is allowed

Hospitals, aged care and disability centres: Visitors will be allowed, provided those visiting have not been to any hotspots or venues of concern.

3 - 8 March / Weather Alert

With the threat of Tropical Cyclone Alfred tracking towards SEQ and forecast to make landfall from Thursday onwards, it is extremely important that we prepare our projects the best we can.

If all projects between Bundaberg and Byron Bay could today start the process of storm / cyclone preparations.

This should be completed and documented using the Inspections > Site Shut Down - Cyclone Preparation Checklist F-084-C tab located on HammerTech.

Please note, any project that has an erected tower crane will also need to ensure they have updated documented advice from their crane engineer outlining the correct weathervane radius, this should be specific to your project.

Hutchies' owned and managed cranes can coordinate this through Bradley Beck, all third party supplied cranes will need to actioned with their nominated representatives.

Any questions please call Jimmy Andersen on 0400 220 381 to discuss.
